At FunnyMonitors, what we call one network is actually a carefully engineered system of multiple interconnected networks designed for reliability and simplicity.

Our monitoring infrastructure operates across five continents — Asia, Australia, North America, Europe and Africa. Each monitoring node is connected through dedicated outbound routes that converge through our global routing architecture, allowing our monitoring servers worldwide to operate as part of a single unified network.

The result is a unique design where all monitoring servers broadcast from the same IP ranges, even though they are physically distributed around the world. This means customers only need to whitelist one IPv4 range and one IPv6 range on their firewalls, rather than maintaining long lists of server IPs that change whenever infrastructure grows.

Designed for Failover

Every outbound monitoring server is connected through multiple transit routes, ensuring traffic can automatically switch to the nearest available path if a network interruption occurs. This multi-path routing allows our monitoring checks to continue operating even during regional network disruptions.

Our routing architecture is designed so that monitoring traffic can automatically reroute without downtime, preventing any single location from becoming a point of failure.

Built for Scalability

Our monitoring network uses BGP routing across multiple global datacentres, allowing our infrastructure to scale while maintaining consistent outbound IP ranges. Monitoring servers connect through controlled routing policies that prevent them from relying on local network gateways, ensuring traffic always follows the resilient global path.

This approach allows us to deploy new monitoring servers anywhere in the world without changing the IP ranges used for monitoring, meaning customers never need to update firewall rules when our infrastructure expands.

One Global Failover Network

The architecture behind the FunnyMonitors network took months of planning, testing and deployment. Our infrastructure uses enterprise-grade routing platforms and dedicated IP transit connections to ensure monitoring traffic remains stable and predictable.

The result is a global monitoring network capable of performing checks continuously, while remaining simple for customers to integrate into their infrastructure.

Why This Matters

For DevOps teams and system administrators, this design provides several key benefits:
• Only one IPv4 and one IPv6 range to whitelist
• Monitoring checks from multiple continents
Automatic network failover
• No firewall updates when infrastructure grows
• Continuous monitoring even during network disruptions
